Keep Moving Forward.

“Sometimes the cards we are dealt are not always fair. However, you must keep smiling and moving on.” –  Tom Jackson

This blog is a few days late, but circumstances demanded it. Actually, recent circumstances helped write it.

Life is filled with good times, bad times and in-between times. Sometimes life is filled with unfair times. What do you do then? What do you do when all you can do is ask why and try to figure out what to do next?

If you remember the show Boy Meets World, you’ll remember that Cory is always confident that Universe will side with him. The Universe will protect him, bring good to him and ensure that he and Topanga are together forever. He is always sure that as a kind, upstanding citizen the Universe will reward him with what he deserves.

I wish life were like that.  I wish we would get what we deserve. Sadly, life is not always as kind to us as we would hope. Often, we don’t get what we deserve. Sometimes we are dealt poor cards and still forced to stay in the game. Once in a while just making it through the day is synonymous with climbing Mt. Everest (or, in the case of the little turtle in the picture, just climbing that hill).  Despite the fact that the life is not always fair, it does always give us the fighting chance. You can’t control what cards are dealt but you can still play the game to the best of your ability. Frequently that means letting go of what was unfair. That doesn’t mean you have to forget, but it does mean you have to keep moving forward.

I don’t know what has been dealt unfairly in your life.  I do know how it feels. Maybe you had to let someone or something go. Maybe you had to keep someone or something! Either way, you can still make it. Even though there aren’t answers to your questions, take heart. You are not alone and you will not always hold the unfair cards. You can make it to another game. Once you are dealt an unfair hand, all you can do keep smiling and keep moving on.
